Within beautiful North Richland Hills is a neighborhood known for its charming homes, lush landscaping, and amenities for the whole family to enjoy. HomeTown is a mixed-use community with an urban feel – without living in the city.
Note: Some of the attractions mentioned are closed due to COVID-19. Learn more about Governor Abbott’s plan to reopen Texas.
HomeTown Amenities
This is where the urban feel of HomeTown comes in. Cities like downtown Fort Worth have lots of green space to enjoy. HomeTown has 25-acres of parks that you can explore without the noisy downtown hustle and bustle. There are also 8 acres of waterfalls and lakes. You and your family can walk along the many trails that wind throughout the community. (Here’s an overview map of the HomeTown.)
The Canal District
There’s a secret hiding in plain sight in HomeTown’s Canal District. All those pretty ponds and waterfalls are actually the drainage system. The builders hired HydroLink Engineering to find a way to meet the city’s drainage requirements while keeping the community aesthetically pleasing. Located at the intersection of Bridge Street and Ice House Drive, the Canal District offers home with stunning – and walkable – water views. The average price per square foot is about $174. (See available homes in the Canal District.)
Schools
HomeTown schools are part of the highly-rated Birdville Independent School District (BISD). There are nine elementary schools, three middle schools, and two high schools. There are also nearby private schools, including Fort Worth Christian School.
Homeowners Association (HOA)
HomeTown is managed by CMA Association Management. Dues are presently $800 a year, payable quarterly. In addition, there is a monthly maintenance fee for townhomes. (This amount varies.) The HOA maintains all of the grounds – and you will see that they do a great job.
HomeTown Style
Craftsman-style homes are popular in HomeTown. But don’t let the quaint exterior fool you. These homes have the modern finishes and open floor plans that folk love. There are a variety of garden homes, cottage homes, and townhomes.
HomeTown Fun
You will find plenty to do close to home. Water fun, a fitness center, golf, and more
NRH20 Family Water Park
The NRH20 Family Water Park has several death-defying attractions, including the 330-foot long Sidewinder body slide. It starts with a 60-foot drop. Not kidding. For something a bit more tame, try the Riggamaroll. It’s only 98-feet long with a short spin in the bowl slide.
The NRH Centre
The NRH Centre has something for every age and nearly every interest. This 86,000 square foot building has a fitness center, swimming pool, and senior center. If you need a little help to get going, personal trainers are available. Then treat yourself to a nice massage. There’s a Kids Club, an outdoor plaza, and meeting and banquet facilities.
Iron Horse Golf Course
HomeTown residents can golf, shop, and dine at The Iron Horse Golf Course in North Richland Hills. PGA professionals are available year-round to teach you and the kids how to golf without hurting yourselves. Or, you can just relax and dine in the clubhouse. They can also help you manage special events like golf tournaments and weddings.
NYTEX Sports
Nearby NYTEX Sports is a minor league ice hockey rink. They have a lot of activities, including a summer camp for kids.
Shopping & Restaurants
The North East Mall has department stores such as Nordstrom’s and Dillard’s. You can find everything from lobster mac and cheese at The Chef Point Bar & Restaurant to scrumptious pad Thai at Sweet Basil Thai Cuisine. Here is a list of Tripadvisor’s Top 10 restaurants in the HomeTown area. Be sure to checkout the North Richland Hills Farmers Market for fresh produce.
